For the Good of all Beans
The fruits of our labor aren’t just served on a plate. We hope to serve the greater good of our community and our fellow human beans. From educating students to helping those in need, our connection to the soil cultivates a connection to those around us.
Acres Education Program
Through our farm, we’re educating a new class of future farmers, aspiring chefs and earth-loving enthusiasts with a passion for dirt. The multi-faceted program teaches students agricultural science and progressive farming techniques ranging from seeding and up-planting to sustainable irrigation and biodynamic and organic practices.
Giving Thanks
In 2015, Rosa Linda’s Mexican Café — a neighbor and friend of the The Squeaky Bean’s original location in LoHi — closed down after 30 years of business. In closing, they had to end a longstanding tradition of feeding Denver’s homeless and hungry on Thanksgiving. Recognizing the need, The Squeaky Bean team partnered with We Don't Waste and with the help of generous volunteers, picked up the torch and made sure the tradition continued. On Thanksgiving 2015, we fed 3,000 people. This year we fed well over 5,000! We plan to quickly grow that number in the years to come. If you are interested in volunteering or donating next year, please visit our Thanksgiving Feed page next October for more info and to sign up. Watch this video all about it.
